Local Grants and Incentives

On the Job Training Grants

OJT offers participants an opportunity to earn as they learn, while you as an employer benefit by receiving a partial wage reimbursement during their training period.

  • Receive 50% reimbursement of a new employee’s wages, while they are training on the job.

  • No cost access to a carefully screened pool of available talent.

  • Assessment testing for potential hires and current employees.

  • You set the qualifications, interview, and select the individual.

  • Simple process with minimal paperwork.

Employed Worker Training (EWT) Grant

EWT provides reimbursement grants for the purpose of providing skills upgrade training to currently employed full-time workers. Upgrade skills of your company’s workforce at no or little cost to the company.

To make your organization more competitive:

  • CareerSource Research Coast provides opportunities to reimburse half of your costs associated with training that leads to an industry recognized credential.
  • Training can be at sites that best meets your needs, either a public or private training provider’s facility, or at your location.
  • You can contract a training vendor of your choice or utilize subject matter experts or professional trainers from your company.

State and Federal Grants and Incentives

Work Opportunity Tax Credit

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal income tax credit that provides incentives to private for-profit employers to encourage the hiring of individuals from certain targeted groups of jobseekers who traditionally have difficulty finding employment.

Quick Response Training Grants

Quick Response Training (QRT) grants, administered by Workforce Florida, provide funding for customized training to new or expanding businesses.

Incumbent Worker Training

The Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) grants provide funding for training to existing for-profit businesses. Through this grant, Florida is able to effectively retain businesses and help them stay competitive by supporting skills-upgrade training for existing full-time employees.
