Services Offered to Career Seekers

CareerSource Research Coast provides a network of professionals to connect employers and career seekers throughout the region (Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie Counties). Our professional Account Managers serve as liaisons to the business community; they analyze an employer’s workforce needs, and customize services and programs according to their goals. CareerSource recruiters  can help employers find qualified candidates who are trained and equipped with the right skills to fill their positions. CareerSource Research Coast provides job search and job placement activities, career and technical training scholarships, career planning, assessment, work readiness certification, resume building, and support services that assist workers to prepare for and retain employment. Trained professionals in our service delivery sites work closely with career seekers to ensure their success in the workplace.

The Professional Placement Network

The Professional Placement Network (PPN) was designed with you in mind.

  • This 12 hour workshop is self directed and conducted over 3 days (4 hours each day).
  • The facilitator focuses on how to conduct an effective job search using the tools and guidelines necessary to be competitive in today’s workforce.
  • The Professional Placement Network workshop is all about helping you become employed in your next right job. We have access to local labor market information(LMI).

Career Planning

Career Planners can:

  • Perform assessments of your skills.
  • Provide you labor market information such as information on in-demand occupations in our area.
  • Assist you in setting career goals.
  • Recommend workshops to enhance your employability skills.
  • Refer you (based on eligibility and suitability) to training for an in-demand occupation with an approved area training provider.
  • Provide you labor market information such as information on in-demand occupations in our area.

CareerSource Research Coast conducts thorough assessment reviews and testing of our job seekers interests and skills prior to referral to the employer. As a potential new hire you may be screened for the employer using “any or all” of the following assessments.
CareerSource Research Coast is qualified to conduct assessment interviews one-on-one with the jobseeker candidate and will include employer specific questions.
CareerSource Research Coast will assess the new hire jobseeker candidate with skill testing against the individual employers’ job criteria and/or special company skills.
Some jobs may require a Prove-It Assessment. Prove-It skills testing and pre-employment assessments evaluate the jobseeker for competencies in various occupational skills.
Jobseekers may be given a TABE survey determined by a counselor. This is a Test of the Adult Basic Education Skills of the jobseeker to assess the reading comprehension, language, math computation and math application levels of the jobseeker prior to the referral to the employer or to training.
Jobseekers may be given a CareerScope Assessment determined by a counselor. This is an interest and aptitude skills assessment taken prior to a referral to an employer, or to training.

Job Search Assistance

  • Matching employers with jobseekers is our main objective. We have access to local, state and national job listings through the internet and job banks.
  • Our facilities have Internet access and office equipment to assist you with your job search.
  • Priority placement services are provided to veterans.

Work Certified

Welcome to our award winning national work readiness program created by employers and educators in 1999 to enhance job seekers skills providing them with employment success and employers with employees they can be proud of. Certification has been determined with the help National Skill Standards Board, Palm Beach Community College, Indian River State College, the Workforce Development Board of the Treasure Coast, and the Work Certified National Certification Council.

Work Certified has been tested by Florida Atlantic University to meet all standards of fairness. Work Certified was developed meeting the U.S. Department of Labor’s SCANS Skills (Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills) and O’Net (The O*NET system serves as the nation’s primary source of occupational information, providing comprehensive information on key attributes and characteristics of workers and occupations.

  • Adults: individuals over 18 years of age
  • Dislocated workers: individuals who become unemployed through no fault of their own and displaced homemakers
  • Employed workers: individuals who are employed but need services to obtain or retain employment which leads to self-sufficiency
  • Youth: individuals from 14 years to 21 years of age, (youth who fall between the ages of 18 and 21 may receive services as a youth or adult or both at the same time)
