State of Jobs Conference

CareerSource Research Coast and other stakeholders of the Workforce Readiness Taskforce, have collaborated with CareerSource Suncoast to provide students in Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin Counties an opportunity to attend the 2018 State of Jobs Conference (SOJC). This half-day conference features a keynote speaker and industry leaders who will engage students with exposure of career pathway opportunities, post-secondary education options, career readiness, employability skills and leadership . During breakout sessions, students will meet and have the chance to speak with local employers and participating education advisors. CareerSource Research Coast has selected to offer three tracks: healthcare, manufacturing, and skilled trades. These tracks focus particularly on high-skill, high-demand, and high-wage industries within our local workforce development area.

This year’s keynote speaker is non-other than our very own Dr. Tiffany Sizemore. After graduating from Lincoln Park Academy, Dr. Sizemore graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology from Florida Atlantic University at 19 years old. She then went on to become the youngest graduate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Sizemore-Ruiz is quadruple board-certified in cardiology, internal medicine, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this event for the future talent of my home town.  Choosing a career path can be overwhelming and stressful. I believe that it is important to give these young adults the right knowledge and tools that they will need to help make educated decisions about what career or potential college path may be the right choice for each one of them as individuals, not what society tells them they should do,” said Dr. Tiffany Sizemore.

We are also seeking corporate sponsorship for the State of Jobs Conference. Funds raised will go toward scholarships, boot camps, and other initiatives to promote high-skill, high-demand, and high-wage jobs within our local workforce development area. Now is the time to sign up as a sponsor to ensure the success of the SOJC event! Call Susan Haggard, Sector Strategy Coordinator, at 866-482-4473 ext. 415 for more information. Current sponsors include Florida Power & Light, George E. Warren Corporation, Spherion, CVS Health, ABC Medical, Treasure Coast Manufacturing Association and the Florida’s Research Coast Economic Development Coalition.

The SOJC will be at the Havert L. Fenn Center on October 25, 2018 and will have approximately 600 high school students in attendance. Due to a pre-selection process and limited seating, this event is not open to the public. For more information about this conference, visit http://stateofjobs.org/
