To ensure that our job seekers attend the workshops most appropriate for their employment targets, individuals interested in attending must first meet with a CSRC staff member and obtain a referral.

Job Search Strategies 

Experience shows that individuals who have a thorough understanding of the job search process secure employment more effectively than those who do not. Therefore, we developed this workshop to provide career seekers with key information regarding a successful job search process. Topics include organizing an effective job search; employment planning to include personal assessments and necessary market research; social media considerations; and networking. 

Application & Resume Success 

In addition to an introduction to the importance of a well-written resume, this workshop discusses factors associated with the completion of effective applications and cover letters. The workshop examines the purpose and structure of these extremely important documents. 

Interview Preparation 

Interviewing for the next best job, how to face fears! Workshop discussion topics include preparing for the interview, answering the most common and difficult questions confidently and closing the interview. Participants receive resources and tips for success! 

Soft Skills in the Workplace 

This workshop allows participants to develop important soft skills essential to success on the job. Topics covered include interpersonal Communication, Teamwork, Professionalism, Problem Solving, Stress Management, and Time Management. Content and activities are designed to allow the student to understand the components of each soft skill covered and also to appreciate why those behaviors are essential in establishing and maintaining work relationships. 

Personal Finances 

Provides participants with information essential to the effective management of their personal finances. Topics covered include your money mindset, goal setting, developing a savings plan, budgeting, getting through the month, dealing with debt, and using credit. Content is designed to allow students to understand key aspects of personal financial management while providing easy-to-use tools to assist them in achieving their personal financial goals. 

Resume Clinic 

Resume Clinic provides an opportunity for career seekers to obtain help and guidance as they work to develop their targeted resumes. The Resume Clinic facilitator is there to provide content and formatting assistance to those developing resumes. The facilitator will also review and provide feedback for those who think a resume is ready for use. 

Making the Most of the Job Fair 

This workshop will help you develop the skills you need to get the most out of your job fair experience including application and resume preparation, interviewing skills techniques, networking, and developing your “infomercial”. Don’t just come to the job fair, come prepared! 

Interest/Proficiency Assessments (By Referral) 

Provides a three-hour session during which career seekers may accomplish a wide variety of assessments related to their employment search efforts. Career seekers who desire to take assessments during these periods must meet with, and be referred by a Staffing Specialist prior to attendance
