St. Lucie Students Can Get Paid to Prepare for Their Future Through CareerSource ‘Summer of Success’ Program

St. Lucie County, FL – Local students looking to gain work experience and earn a paycheck this summer are being encouraged to apply for a unique opportunity through St. Lucie County’s Summer of Success Program—a workforce development initiative that blends education and employment for youth across the region.

Running from June 9 to July 11, the program offers high school and college-age students a chance to participate in paid internships with businesses and organizations throughout the county. But it’s not just about earning money — the program is designed to equip students with the soft skills and job training necessary to succeed in today’s competitive job market.

“Summer of Success is about more than just a summer job,” said Christina Coble, CareerSource Research Coast Business Services Manager. “It’s about helping young people gain confidence, learn responsibility, and build a foundation for long-term professional success.”

Erin Holden of TMX Aero works with Miquelias and Jacob Azevedo with some airplane wing maintenance as part of the Summer of Success youth program hosted by CareerSource Research Coast and sponsored by St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners. Over 40 St. Lucie County youth have been placed in internship roles throughout the county’s facilities and local non-profits.

The program includes:

  • A four-week paid internship with a St. Lucie County local employer
  • Workshops on job readiness, communication, teamwork, and time management
  • Personalized support from career mentors and workforce professionals

Funded by St. Lucie County, the program aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by giving students a head start in the workforce. Participating students are matched with employers based on their interests and strengths, ensuring a meaningful and educational experience.

“Programs like this are an investment in our youth—and our future workforce,” said Brian Bauer, President/CEO of CareerSource Research Coast. “We want to see every student leave this summer with not just a paycheck, but a purpose.”

Applications are open now and must be submitted by May 2.
Space is limited. The program is open to eligible students residing in St. Lucie County.
