CareerSource Research Coast to Reopen Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie County Career Centers to the Public June 1 by Appointment Only

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., May 26, 2020 – CareerSource Research Coast (CSRC) today announced plans to reopen all Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie County career centers by appointment only on June 1. New safety measures take effect upon reopening to protect visitors and staff.

To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and maximize the availability of career center resources, all visitors must schedule an appointment prior to their arrival and adhere to new safety measures. These include a mandatory temperature check, COVID-19 screening, career center entry and exit protocols, use of personal protective face mask, and social distancing. Visitors who refuse to adhere to these new safety measures, exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, or have temperature readings above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit will need to reschedule their appointment for a later date.

CSRC continues to provide services virtually and encourages clients to utilize this option to mitigate long lines and service wait times. Due to capacity restrictions, CSRC will reserve on-site appointments to those clients who possess the greatest need, such as computer and internet access constraints or disability. All appointments will be limited to 45-minute increments and will begin at the top of each hour. Exceptions will be made as needed during the scheduling process. Equipment and workspaces will be thoroughly sanitized at the end of each appointment.

“As front-line workers in an employment crisis that stemmed from the coronavirus pandemic, we recognize that our communities need our assistance now more than ever and we will rise to the challenges ahead in a manner that protects the health and safety of both our employees and the communities we serve,” said Tracey McMorris, CareerSource Research Coast COO and vice president of operations.

CSRC has restricted access to all career centers in response to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Florida Department of Health due to COVID-19. This phased reopening aligns with Phase 1 of Governor Ron DeSantis’ recovery plan for Florida and will focus on the most immediate employment needs of those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Career center services include but are not limited to reemployment assistance, Priority Reemployment Planning (PREP), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) training services, resume assistance, job search and employer referrals. CSRC will also continue to offer access to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) virtually until officials lift suspended work requirements. Employability workshops, rapid response services, recruitment events and job fairs will operate virtually until further notice.
