ST LUCIE COUNTY, FL — For the eighth year the City of Fort Pierce, St Lucie Board of County Commissioners, and CareerSource Research Coast (CSRC) have partnered in creating a job fair that features a diverse variety of employers to provide new opportunities for job seekers.

Businesses in the medical, healthcare, retail, logistics, transportation, construction, education, non-profit and more will be represented at the Job Fair. “Connecting with a prospective employer in person is a great way get yourself noticed when they make their decisions to fill staffing positions,” said Brian Bauer, President/CEO of of CareerSource Research Coast.

In preparation for the Job Fair a series of free workshops are hosted by CSRC at their Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River County locations. The workshops cover topics such as resume preparation, job search strategies, interview preparation, and making the most of a job fair.

An in-person Job Fair offers opportunities that submitting a resume online cannot. “It wouldn’t be unusual for a job seeker to come in for a job in a specific field only to connect with another employer with a better opportunity they may not have been aware of,” said Dawn Riccardi, CSRC Business Navigator organizing the Job Fair.

“Every year, job seekers come hoping to get a job or hoping to get a better job. When I was elected in 2012, our area needed jobs that paid well; today, we need willing, eager, and trained people to fill jobs that pay well,” said Linda Hudson, Mayor of Fort Pierce.

Second Chance citizens are a demographic that often face obstacles in finding a job or career. Employers with openings for Second Chance citizens will also be on hand to offer positions on their staff.

The Job Fair will take place Wednesday, January 25 from 9:00 AM until Noon at the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce. Veterans and their eligible spouses are provided with early admission to connect with employers. The Fort Pierce Central High School JROTC will provide the color guard to open the event.
