Free Soft Skills Workshop to Enhance Job Seekers’ Appeal in the Job Market begins in December.

Treasure Coast, FL — CareerSource Research Coast is pleased to announce the addition of a new Soft Skills Workshop to its lineup of free career development programs. This workshop, designed to empower job seekers with essential soft skills, aims to make them stand out in the competitive job market.

The Soft Skills workshop will be hosted at the Career Center in Vero Beach in December before branching out to their other locations in Martin and St. Lucie Counties in January. This initiative is part of CareerSource Research Coast’s commitment to providing valuable resources to job seekers, helping them navigate the challenges of the employment landscape successfully.

In addition to the new Soft Skills Workshop, CareerSource Research Coast offers a range of workshops to equip individuals with the tools and knowledge needed for a successful job search. These workshops include:

  • Interview Preparation
  • Job Search Strategies
  • Application & Resume Success
  • Open Lab
  • Making the Most of the Job Fair
  • Interest & Proficiency Assessments

Soft skills, often overlooked but crucial in today’s workplace, encompass interpersonal communication, adaptability, teamwork, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. In the eyes of employers, possessing strong soft skills can be the key differentiator when selecting candidates. Research shows that candidates with well-developed soft skills are more likely to thrive in diverse work environments and contribute positively to team dynamics.

“Soft skills are increasingly becoming a priority for employers. They are the intangible qualities that make individuals not just qualified for the job but an asset to the company culture,” said Dale Shepperson, Regional Training and Development Manager at CareerSource Research Coast. “Our Soft Skills Workshop is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practice necessary to enhance these skills, ultimately making them more attractive to potential employers.”

The Soft Skills Workshop is a 2-hour session, and while the workshops are free, participants must register in advance to secure their spot. To register, interested individuals can visit the CareerSource Research Coast events page: https://careersourcerc.com/events/category/workshops/.

Near the end of January, CareerSource Research Coast will partner with the City of Fort Pierce for a job fair that has featured close to 100 varied employers in the past. “Now is the time for Job seekers to get an understanding of soft skills to be the one the employers will remember from the job fair or a job interview,” said Brian Bauer, CareerSource Research Coast president/CEO. “When an employer interviews a group of candidates that are equally qualified, it could be something as simple as a memorable handshake or making eye contact that could be the difference in who gets the job offer.”

CareerSource Research Coast is dedicated to supporting the community by fostering a skilled and competitive workforce. The addition of the Soft Skills Workshop further strengthens its commitment to providing comprehensive resources for individuals seeking career development opportunities.
